Discussion with Henci Goer
I am pleased to report that after posting on Henci Goer's message board, she has responded with a thoughtful commentary. I posted about the deficiencies in the recent MacDorman study that puports to show that C-section increases the risk of neonatal death by almost a factor of 3. She defended the McDorman study, and I have replied with a more detailed list of objections. It is interesting to me that the natural childbirth community would put so much stock in a study that depended on birth certificate data when the primary objection to the Pang study was that it depended on birth certificate data which might not be reliable.
I hope that we will be able to continue the discussion.
