Why do DEMs charge so much?
Looking at websites that list charges for a homebirth indicates that the average DEM fee is $2500 for prenatal care and delivery. That seems quite steep when you consider that in many states obstetricians receive far less for prenatal care and delivery (either vaginal delivery or C-section). How can DEMs justify charging such high fees to women who often must pay them out of pocket?Labels: midwifery
